Where do plasticizers come from?
Plasticizers are endocrine-disrupting substances added to materials to increase flexibility. They are found throughout everyday life, including plastics, plastic wrap, cement, concrete, and plaster
Some businesses use plasticizers illegally as food additives to reduce costs because they are inexpensive and have a long shelf life

How harmful can plasticizers be?
Also called endocrine disruptors, they can imitate hormones and stimulate or inhibit hormonal activity, disrupting the endocrine system and affecting organs such as the pituitary gland, thyroid, adrenal glands, ovaries, and testes
Prolonged exposure to or absorption of high doses of plasticizers (DEHP) can cause underdeveloped reproductive organs in male infants, early puberty in girls, miscarriage, congenital defects, reduced sperm counts and fertility in adult men, malignant
tumors, and thyroid enlargement. They may also affect young children's immune and nervous systems, causing anxiety, hyperactivity, and problems with learning and concentration
